MarketInvoice, the peer-to-peer (P2P) online invoice finance marketplace, has appointed Shaun Alexander as head of risk. He has over 30 years’ experience in retail and corporate banking, leading teams focussing on asset-based lending and business finance.
Alexander began his career at Barclays in 1984 where, over a 22-year tenure, he worked across various credit risk roles responsible for the development and implementation of lending strategy and policy for corporate and small to medium enterprise (SME) portfolios. He was promoted to head of credit for SMEs in 2004 before moving in 2007 to Oliver Wyman, where as head of credit he set up the credit underwriting function for a new business venture with Deutsche Bank lending to UK SME businesses. In 2008, Alexander joined Banco Santander becoming the head of risk for asset-based lending to manage credit risk across the invoice finance and asset finance product range.
At MarketInvoice, he will work directly with co-founder and chief operating officer (COO), Ilya Kondrashov, in formulating the risk management strategy and improving credit scoring systems and risk policies. Using the latest technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, Alexander “will lead the automation and accuracy of the MarketInvoice risk process.”
